The Fed Just Hinted at a Rate Cut — Does Your SIP Even Notice?

Typical window in which FII inflows into Indian equities have historically responded to a Fed rate cut

A US Federal Reserve rate decision can feel like distant news — it's not your interest rate, not your currency. But it's one of the biggest single drivers of foreign institutional investor (FII) flows into Indian equity markets, which is where it actually reaches your SIP.

Lower US rates generally make Indian equities more attractive to foreign investors relative to US bonds, which has historically shown up as increased FII buying in the months following a cut — and FII flows are a real, visible driver of index-level moves.

This isn't a signal to change your SIP amount or timing — the entire point of a SIP is that it doesn't need to react to any single macro event. It's just useful context for why the index (and your fund's NAV) might be moving on a week when nothing domestic changed at all.
